Super Rugby and The Rugby Championship will this season adopt the Law Amendments that were announced by World Rugby in July 2017 prior to the start of the 2017/2018 northern hemisphere season. The amendments relate to the scrum (Law 20), tackle (Law 15) and ruck (Law 16).
SANZAAR has announced the referee team that will officiate the 2018 Super Rugby season. With the Super Rugby tournament format reducing to 120 regular season matches this season the referee team has been reduced from 19 to 17 referees.
The Semi-final Super Rugby team of the week includes seven players, four Lions and three Crusaders, who will feature in the Final. Player of the Week is once again Chiefs fullback Damian McKenzie who beat more players than any other player in the semi-finals, ran for over 100 metres and was 100 percent in his goal-kicking.
The Quarter-final Super Rugby team of the week is very strong on paper and contains players hitting peak form at the right end of the season. Player of the Week is Lions backrow forward Jaco Kriel who scored a try, carried 11 times, beat 8 defenders and made 13 tackles.
Seventeen regular season rounds are done and dusted for Super Rugby 2017 and eight of the 18 hopefuls have qualified for what is sure to be an exciting Finals Series. Among them lies a distinct disparity in how they’ve performed for the season to date.
